Dorsey named OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech volleyball sophomore middle blocker Taylor Dorsey was named Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance to close out the Golden Eagles regular season.

Dorsey becomes the second Golden Eagle to earn an OVC weekly award this season, after Ashley Hand was named OVC Setter of the Week on November 11.

The Birmingham, Alabama native, earns her first career OVC weekly honor after tallying a career-high 11 blocks during Tech's regular-season finale against Belmont, averaging 1.71 blocks per set over the Golden Eagle's two-game weekend. She opened the weekend hitting .222, while collecting five kills, a service ace, and a block against Tennessee State. In Tech's matchup against the Bruins, Dorsey produced a career-high 11 blocks, 13 kills, a service ace, while hitting .308.

Dorsey ranks 41st in the nation in total blocks and second in the OVC with 118 blocks on the season. Dorsey also ranks second in the OVC in blocks per set, averaging 1.12.

The Golden Eagles will next head to Jacksonville, Alabama for the 2019 OVC Championship, hosted by Jacksonville State. The No. 7-seeded Golden Eagles will take on the No. 2-seeded Southeast Missouri Redhawks on Thursday, November 21 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pete Mathews Coliseum.
