Golden Eagle volleyball falls 3-0 to Jacksonville State on Tuesday evening

COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech women's volleyball team (7-21, 3-12 OVC) fell to Jacksonville State (18-17, 6-9 OVC) in three sets. The Gamecocks claimed winning set scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-10.

Jacksonville State took the early five-point lead at 8-3 in set one over Tech. The Golden Eagles pulled within two points of the Gamecocks at 10-8 with a kill by Rachel Thomas. JSU pulled back ahead by five at 15-10 with a kill by Mackenzie Rombach, which pushed Tech to take a timeout. After the break, the Gamecocks kept the pressure on and pulled ahead to 19-12 with another kill from Rombach. From there, JSU sealed a first set victory at 25-14.

The Gamecocks quickly created a lead at the start of set two, opening with a six-point lead at 11-5 over the Golden Eagles. JSU maintained their lead heading into the latter part of the set at 17-10 with a block by Rombach and Shayla Schmidt. The Gamecocks then went on to take a second set victory at 25-14 with a kill by Sadie Anderson.

The Golden Eagles started off with the 6-4 lead in set three as senior Alyssa Povey notched a service ace. However, JSU tied the set up at 6-6 with a kill by Charis Ludtke, and then went on to take a 10-7 lead with another kill by Ludtke. Midway through the set, the Gamecocks held onto the lead at 14-8 with a kill by Rombach. JSU then extended their lead to 17-8 before claiming a third set and match victory at 25-10.

Thomas led the Golden Eagles with six kills. Sharon Anderson tallied 10 assists in the match, while Kennedy Wade posted 10 digs. Rombach led JSU with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Rachel Perucki tallied 18 assists in the contest, while Sadie Anderson totaled 13 digs.

Tech returns to action on Saturday, when the Golden Eagles close out the regular season with a 2 p.m. match at Southeast Missouri.
