MOSCOW, Idaho – The Tennessee Tech volleyball team ran into stout competition on Friday night in the Idaho Volleyball Classic.

The host Vandals took a 3-1 victory in the Golden Eagles' first game of the day. Tech came out strong, earning a 27-25 win in the first set, but Idaho swept the next three to clinch the victory.

In the later match against the Cowgirls, Wyoming swept the match, winning 25-18, 25-13 and 25-8.

In the day's opener, Idaho used good hitting to cruise to a 25-12, 25-15 and 25-11 victory, recording a .242 attack percentage in the second set, .500 in the third and .387 in the third.

Rachel Thomas led the Golden Eagles (4-9) with 10.5 points in the match, finishing with 10 kills on 30 attacks. She also had an assisted block. Kellie Williams also recorded nine kills.

Shealene Little and Kennedy Wade led Tech with 11 digs.

Sarah Sharp led the Idaho attack with 16 kills on 36 attempts, while Torrin Crawford and Becca Mau also recorded double-digit kills with 12 and 11 respectively. Crawford also had five assisted blocks.

Kiaree Hobart led Idaho (5-6) with 22 digs.

Against the Cowgirls (7-6), Little led the Golden Eagles with eight kills, while Alyssa Povey and Kellie Williams each recorded four.

Little and White each recorded eight digs.

For Wyoming, Laura Beach recorded nine kills on 19 attempts, while Emily Lewis picked up eight kills on 14 attempts. Madi Fields recorded 16 digs, while Beach had nine assisted blocks and Lewis had seven assists.

Following the action, Thomas was named to the all-tournament team.

The Golden Eagles return home and will open Ohio Valley Conference play on Friday as they host Eastern Kentucky at the Hooper Eblen Center, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
