In 2009 (Junior): Ashley will look to rebound from a subpar 2009 season, as she prepares for her senior year at Tech. Ashley had 14 shots in 18 games during her Junior campaign, after leading the Eagles in several statistical categories in 2008. Her intensity and hard work ethic should give her a much better start moving forward.
IN 2008 (Sophomore): Ashley was named
second-team all-OVC after leading the team in goals (7), assists
(3), points (17) game-winning goals (2), shots (38) and shots on
goal (19). She also ranked second in the OVC in goals, third in
points and tied for fourth in assists. Had a season-high three
points in Tech’s 2-1 win over OVC opponent Southeast Missouri
when she scored Tech’s game-winning goal, and added an
assist.
IN 2007 (Freshman): Ashley scored three
goals in 14 games during her freshman season, for a total of six
points. Finished the season with 17 shots, including 10 on
goal.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ashley was named 2003 District 8-AAA
freshman-of-the-year, 2004 and 2005 first-team all-District 8-AAA,
and captain of the Shelbyville Central High School soccer team.
CLUB EXPERIENCE: Ashley played for the Azules
Shelbyville from 1998-1999. In 2000, she played with the
Murfreesboro Strikers and stayed there until 2003. From 2004 to
2006, she was a member of the TNFC 89 Girls White Fire.
PERSONAL: Ashley is the daughter of James and
Jerri Lynn Smith…majoring in communications with a
concentration in public relations…born March 6, 1989, in
Shelbyville, Tenn.…full name is Ashley Leanne Smith.
