COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—A Cortney Fry two-run home run and a Sabrie Neeb solo blast highlighted game three of the series for the Tennessee Tech softball team (16-26, 7-10 OVC) as the Golden Eagles topped Tennessee State (10-34, 3-14 OVC) in the rubber game on Sunday, 4-1.

Tech started its scoring drive in the bottom of the third when Jessie Lowery singled up the middle to get on base. The quick-footed freshman quickly made her way over to second stealing the base and then advanced to third when Neeb grounded out to the shortstop. With Olivia Bennett now at the dish, the senior knocked a high ball just in foul territory of the left field line, and Lowery made a successful break home to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Tech continued to dominate into the bottom of the fourth when freshman Gabby LaSala hit a double to right center to get on base and Fry knocked a two-run home run just in fair territory down the left field line. Neeb then rounded out Tech's final run, opening the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot to left center.

The shutout seemed imminent for the Golden Eagles, however, the Tigers refused to back down. An RBI double to left center from TSU freshman Erica O'Kane gave the Tigers their one run of the game in the top of the seventh.

Danielle Liberatore (11-11) pitched the complete game to notch the win. She allowed just one run on four hits, and struck out eight while walking four in the contest. Lauren Powell (4-11) suffered the loss for TSU, going for four innings and allowing four runs off of six hits and striking out two.

Tech gets right back in the swing of things on Monday when the Golden Eagles host Chattanooga in a 5 p.m. contest at the Tech Softball Field in a non-conference contest.
