NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech softball team (12-22, 3-7 OVC) closed out the road series versus Belmont (12-23, 5-5 OVC) on Sunday with a 4-1 loss to the Bruins who made a late surge in the bottom of the sixth to take the victory.

Tech started things off in the top of the third when freshman Leigh Thomas doubled to left center to get on base and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Gabby Perez then came up to the dish and singled to right field to drive in Thomas and put the first run of the day on the board.

Belmont came back and made a late rally in the bottom the sixth, putting two runs on the board off of a Bruin double to left center to take the 2-1 lead. Belmont continued to put points on the board in the inning with a Wells single to left field, and a Baker single to the pitcher to extend the Bruin lead to 4-1.

Danielle Liberatore (7-11) suffered the loss pitching 5.2 innings and allowing four runs off of eight hits while striking out five and walking two. Rouse (4-4) saw victory for Belmont pitching 4.2 innings and allowing no runs on four hits and striking out two and walking none.

Tech returns to action on Saturday, April 9, when they face UT Martin in a doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
