Tech Cross Country Competes at Covered Bridge Open to Begin 2025 Campaign

BOONE, N.C. – Tennessee Tech men's cross country finished third in the 6K and the women's cross country team finished fifth in the 5K to open the 2025 season at the Covered Bridge Open at Appalachian State University.

Tech men's cross country finished third (73 pts) in the 6k and the women's cross country team finished fifth (133 pts) in the 5K to open the 2025 season at the Covered Bridge Open at Appalachian State University on Friday morning.

"It was a nice start for both teams," said Head Coach Peter Dalton. "The men packed well and ran strong together. On the women's side, we've got a couple of extra additions coming that will bolster them, but today the ladies rolled." Dalton continued. "Overall, really pleased with the intent, effort, and execution."

The Tech women's team finished 5th with 133 points, trailing South Carolina (1st: 18 pts), Georgia (2nd: 47 pts), Appalachian State (3rd: 82 pts), and College of Charleston (4th: 115 pts). Naomy Lokiles led the women's team with a time of 18:25.1, finishing 24th overall.

The men's team finished third with 73 total points, trailing Georgia (1st: 15), Appalachian State (2nd: 47).

Carter Bradford paced the Golden Eagles, finishing 11th to lead the team with a time of 18:35.7 in the 6K. Zak Myles-Hawkins finished second on the men's team and 15th overall with a time of 18:51.42. Luca Gambling finished third on the men's team and 16th overall with a time of 18:56.71. Nic Chambers joined his teammates in the top 20 in 18th with a time of 19:04.37.

Cruz Hesling finished 28th overall with a time of 19:31.89, Dante Torres finished 31st with a time of 19:41.85.

The Tech Cross Country team heads to Huntsville, Alabama, for the Southern Showcase hosted by South Alabama on Friday, Sept. 12.
