MURRAY, Ky. – Junior Geoffrey Sambu repeated his all-conference performance, placing 13th individually to capture second-team honors while leading the Tennessee Tech men's cross country team to ninth place at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Saturday in Murray, Ky.

Sambu's time of 25:33.1 ranks as the eighth-best in school history at the 8K distance, covering the distance on Murray State University's Miller Memorial Golf Course.

Eastern Kentucky capped of a sweep of the morning, adding the men's title to the women's crown with a score of 21 by placing the top three runners and six of the top 10. Eastern Illinois (67) was second with two top 10 finishers, followed by SIUE (89), Belmont (107), Morehead State (109), Murray State (168). Southeast Missouri (195), Austin Peay (225), Tennessee Tech (232), UT Martin (242), Jacksonville State (311) and Tennessee State (376).

Following Sambu across the line for coach Wayne Angel's squad was Daniel Williamson, finishing in 34th place in 26:37.1.

Noah Rotich was the lone Golden Eagle runner to put a personal-best time on the board, finishing 54th overall in 27:26.3. Timothy Misoy was 64th in 28:33.5, followed by Amos Kipchirchir in 28:46.6 for 67th place, and Collin Gwaltney in 74th position with a time of 30:08.6.

Eastern Illinois runner Erick Rotich was the individual winner of the race in 24:31.4, edging teammates Amos Kosgey in 24:35.7 and Sergio Marcuello in 24:49.2.
