Golden Eagles run final meet of 2011 season at NCAA South Regional

Greene, Cline lead Golden Eagles

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams wrapped up the 2011 season in style Saturday, setting several personal-records at the NCAA South Regional at the University of Alabama arboretum.

The Golden Eagle men were paced by John Greene, who ran the 10K course in 33:27.5, almost three minutes better than his NCAA time from a season ago. The performance capped off a season in which Greene, a junior, led Tech in every meet and set a new personal-best 8K time in each regular-season meet.

Rebecca Cline led the Golden Eagle women with a 24:04 on the 6K course. Cline's time was a career-best on a 6K course, beating her previous PR of 24:58 set earlier this season at the Georgia State Invitational. Cline has now led the Tech women for four consecutive meets.

The rest of the women's field was made up of Leah Bradley (24:27), Traci Jones (24:54), Beth Miller (25:10), Amelia McCoy (25:11), Kara Webb (25:17) and Meghan O'Donaghue (25:56). Tech finishers on the men's side included Matthew Bishop (34:35), Mike Mahan (34:54), Sterling Smith (35:27), Adam McLeod (35:58) and Matt Pennycuff (39:06).

Tech runners who set personal-bests included Greene on the men's side and Cline, Bradley, Miller and Webb on the women's side. Greene and Bishop were the only men's runners to have recorded previous 10K times.
