COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team keeps on rolling, as the Golden Eagles capped off a perfect weekend with a 5-2 victory over Chattanooga Sunday afternoon for Tech's third consecutive victory.

Fresh off a 6-1 win in Saturday's home opener against Kennesaw State, the Golden Eagles (4-4) used a similar script in Sunday's triumph over the Mocs that featured stellar singles play out of the final four spots in the lineup to remain unbeaten against unranked opponents this year.

Carlos Vicente, Elias Grubert, Riku Kubota and Fanis Kontopoulos all registered victories for the third straight match, with the Tech quartet combining to drop just one set in the affair. Vicente picked up a 5-7, 6-4, 10-1 nod against Kerim Hyatt in the No. 3 spot, while the final three slots took care of business with straight-set wins.

Elias Grubert helped highlight the trio with a 6-1, 6-3 nod over Jeffrey Dewald in the No. 4 clash for his team-leading sixth singles win this spring. Riku Kubota knocked off Simon Bustamante, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 5 position and Fanis Kontopoulos picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Turner Voges in the No. 6 meeting.

Evzen Holis was unable to make it a fifth straight win after an injury forced the TTU freshman to retire in the No. 1 battle with Niklas Gerdes. Holis did lead 5-2 in the first set at time of the injury. The Mocs (11-4) other point came courtesy of a Tomas Rodriguez 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Rafael Tosetto in the No. 2 get-together.

Tech secured the doubles point for the third consecutive affair behind wins in the top two tandem slots. Evzen Holis and Carlos Vicente teamed up for a 6-4 victory over Niklas Gerdes and Tomas Rodriguez in the No. 1 position, while Riku Kubota and Lucca Silva tallied a 6-3 nod against Kerim Hyatt and Simon Bustamante in the No. 2 slot.

Rafael Tosetto and Marc Mila's meeting with Turner Voges and Luke Plaisted did not finish with Tosetto and Mila leading 5-4 at the time it was called.

The Golden Eagles will continue its four-match homestand on Saturday, Mar. 7 with another in-state showdown scheduled at Tech Tennis Courts. TTU welcomes Lipscomb to town for an 11 a.m. CT get-together with the Bisons. Admission is free of charge.
