COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following a strong weekend in the Sunshine State, freshman Evzen Holis took home a piece of Ohio Valley Conference hardware with his first ever OVC Male Tennis Athlete of the Week award.

The 6-foot-2 Golden Eagle rookie put together an unblemished 2-0 singles record in Tech's two matches in Tallahassee, Fla., which included a strong showing in TTU's second win of the season in Sunday's 6-1 nod over Buffalo. Competing out of top singles spot for the first time in his youthful career, Holis secured a straight-set, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Willhelm Fridell for his fourth singles win this spring.

The Brno, Czech Republic product was also instrumental in Tech capturing the doubles point in Sunday's triumph over the Bulls, teaming up with Carlos Vicente to seize a 6-3 nod over Hao Sheng Koay and Simon Wibler in the top tandem slot.

Holis began the weekend with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory against Florida State's Loris Pourroy in the No. 2 singles clash in Saturday's road affair at No. 18 FSU.

Holis and the rest of the Golden Eagles will hit Tech Tennis Courts for the 2020 home opener on Saturday, Feb. 29 against Kennesaw State, the first of two weekend contests in Cookeville. TTU will also host Chattanooga on Sunday, Mar. 1 in the second of a four-match homestand. Both contests are scheduled to begin at noon CT and admission to each is free of charge.
