Tech tennis heads to Nashville for first event of the fall

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team will make its fall debut over the weekend, as the Golden Eagles make the quick trip down I-40 for the Commodore Scramble in Nashville.  

The three-day event, hosted by Vanderbilt from Friday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 15, will feature both singles and doubles play. Action is slated on both the indoor and outdoor courts at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center in mid-town Nashville.

Tech will bring a pair of doubles tandems to the tournament, while four different Golden Eagles will also appear in singles action. Friday's first round of doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. CT on the outdoor courts and the first-round of singles play will kick off at 10 a.m. on both the indoor and outdoor courts.

The Tech tandem of Rafael Tosetto and Riku Kubota will greet Belmont's Felix Rauch and Taisei Miaymoto in the doubles first round on Court 9, while the Tech pair of Carlos Vicente and Elias Grubert will lock up with Belmont's Grant Kelly and Ole Miss' Sebastion Rios in doubles first-round play on Court 10.

The second round of doubles action is set for 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Doubles third round is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday and the final round will occur at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

As far as singles play is concerned, Elias Grubert will say hello to Vandy's Keaton Allwardt in Friday's first round on outdoor Court 8 at 10 a.m. The rest of Tech's first-round singles action will occur on the indoor courts with three battles on the books.

Carlos Vicente squares off with Victor Chaw on Court 1, while Rafael Tosetto will connect with Cotter Wilson of Ole Miss on Court 3 and Riku Kubota takes on Belmont's Grant Kelly on Court 5. All three matches are at 10 a.m.

The second round of singles play is slated for 10 a.m. on Saturday. Round three scheduled to take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and the final singles round is set for 10 a.m. on Sunday.
