COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – An unblemished weekend on the courts was the trick for Eduardo Mena, as the 48th-ranked player in the nation was recognized as the adidas® OVC Tennis Male Athlete of the Week.

Mena, who received the honor Wednesday afternoon, recently wrapped up an impressive showing down in Louisiana that saw the two-time OVC Player of the Year compile a perfect singles record, all out of the vaunted No. 1 spot in the lineup.

Mena began the weekend by taking down Louisiana's Vlad Kramarov in straight-sets Friday morning, knocking off the Ragin Cajuns' No. 1, 6-3, 6-1.

After Mena's first bout of the day went unfinished on Saturday with the 6-foot senior locked up in a tight one against East Carolina's Freddie McGeehan, Mena soared to a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Francois Kellerman the afternoon's second clash.

Mena's pair of wins pushed the Bultrago del Lozoya, Spain native to a 5-4 singles mark this spring, tied with Gonzalo Garcia for the most wins on the Golden Eagles.

Tech is not in action this week. The Golden Eagles will return to the courts on Mar. 8 at Winthrop.
