NEW ORLEANS, La. — Nick Etherton posted a fourth-place finish to lead Tennessee Tech in its spring opener at the Gulf Coast Collegiate, as the Golden Eagles finished seventh in the 15-team field at English Turn Golf & Country Club.
Etherton closed with an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish the three-round event at 226 (+10), tying for fourth overall. He followed an opening-round 82 (+10) with back-to-back even-par rounds to surge into the top five on the individual leaderboard.
As a team, Tennessee Tech carded a final-round 303 (+15) and finished the tournament at 928 (+64), securing seventh place. The Golden Eagles posted rounds of 313 (+25), 312 (+24) and 303 (+15) on the par-72, 7,078-yard layout.
Cooper Gettler and Haden Maxwell each finished tied for 26th at 233 (+17). Gettler posted rounds of 77 (+5), 79 (+7) and 77 (+5), while Maxwell went 75 (+3), 82 (+10) and 76 (+4). Alex Broyles tied for 56th at 244 (+28) after rounds of 87 (+15), 79 (+7) and 78 (+6). Bryson White rounded out the Tech lineup in a tie for 59th at 245 (+29), shooting 79 (+7), 87 (+15) and 79 (+7).
Augusta claimed the team title at 898 (+34), while Pieter Rossouw (Augusta), Joseph Dolezal (St. John's) and Chapman Barnett (Augusta) shared individual medalist honors at 225 (+9).
