Golden Eagles through first two rounds of Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team wrapped up its first day of action at the Mason Rudolph Championship, posting a two-round score of 628 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

The Golden Eagles posted a first-round total of 324 before rebounding nicely for a 304 over the final 18 holes of the day. Tech ranked 15th among a field of 15, including two teams sponsored by host Vanderbilt.

Liberty led all teams through 36 holes with a score of 570 after firing rounds of 291 and 279. Vanderbilt's John Augenstein and Alabama's Davis Shore tied for the individual lead on day one, each finishing 3-under with scores of 139.

Tech freshman Will Brooks led the team on Friday, carding rounds of 79 and 74 for 153 overall. He sat in a tie for 58th among the field of 82 golfers. Just one stroke back of his teammate, junior Matthew Giles tied for 62nd with a two-round total of 154. He posted rounds of 78 and 76.

A pair of seniors ranked next for the Golden Eagles, with A.J. Wilkerson shooting an 82 and 76 for a 158 overall. Alexander Riddle turned in rounds of 86 and 78 to total 164. Rounding out the Tech lineup, freshman Bracton Womack finished the day with a 166 after an 85 in the first round and 81 in the second.

Play for round three is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT shotgun start on Saturday, however a final decision on playing will be made at 9 a.m. with inclement weather expected in the area all day. Should a rainout occur Saturday, play will commence on Sunday.
