Jorsixt Jimenez Powers 7-4 Comeback win over Alabama A&M

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech erupted for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a tie and secure a 7-4 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday afternoon at Bush Stadium.

The Golden Eagles trailed early before using a three-run third inning to grab momentum, then finished the game with a decisive late surge to improve to 6-5 on the season.

GOLDEN BATS

  • Jorsixt Jimenez launched his third HR of the season, a 2-run blast in the 3rd inning to put TTU in front. 
  • Eddie Garza drove in two runs, finishing 3-for-5 with one double.
  • Manny Garza drove in one run during his 1-for-4 performance. 

EAGLES' WINGS 

  • Righty Jaxson Pease earned his third win of the season (3-1) after tossing 6.0 innings with five strikeouts while allowing only two runs. 
  • Garrett Holpuch made his second start (3 app) and went 3.0 innings while fanning two and allowing two runs. 

Jorsixt Jimenez powered the Tech offense, going 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in the third inning and a bases-clearing double in the eighth to account for four RBIs. Eddie Garza added three hits and two RBIs, while Luke Bragga scored twice and doubled as part of the eight-inning rally.

Alabama A&M struck first with two runs in the top of the third, but Jimenez answered quickly with his third home run of the season, a three-run shot that gave Tech a 3-2 lead. The Bulldogs cut it to a one-run deficit with two runs in the ninth, highlighted by a two-run double from Miles Jackson, before Tech closed the door.

After entering in relief, Jaxson Pease earned the win by throwing six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five without issuing a walk. Garrett Holpuch started for Tech and worked three innings, surrendering two runs.

Tennessee Tech finished with 11 hits and stranded 12 runners, while Alabama A&M collected nine hits. Anthony Mateo took the loss for the Bulldogs after allowing three runs over six innings.

NEXT UP 
The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. against Notre Dame at Bush Stadium to close the Holiday Inn Classic.
