Original release:

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Don't miss Tennessee Tech baseball's second annual Home Run Derby at Quillen Field/Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex. Members of the Tech baseball team will participate in a home run derby in an effort to help raise funds for Golden Eagle baseball. Last year the event raised almost $36,000 and this year the team has set an impressive goal of $50,000.

The first bat will swing at 11 a.m. CT. Each player will have 20 swings to see how many home runs he can hit. Pitchers batting will get to double their home run count, so - for example - instead of four home runs, they will get to claim eight. Parents, alumni, fans and friends of the program are invited to come out and watch the event and cheer on their favorite players. After the derby, attendees can head over to Tucker Stadium to watch the Golden Eagle football team take on Ohio Valley Conference and in-state rival Austin Peay at 1:30 p.m.
