COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Another piece of Tennessee Tech baseball history has been rewritten by departing senior Kevin Strohschein. The outfielder was named to the NCAA Division I All-American First Team by Collegiate Baseball Thursday morning, becoming the first player in program history to earn All-American honors in three separate seasons.

Just the second player ever to be honored as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year three times, Strohschein was a two-time All-American following his freshman campaign in 2016. Two years later, at the conclusion of his brilliant junior season, he collected six All-American nods, becoming the first consensus All-American in program history.

It represents Strohschein's third All-American nod from Collegiate Baseball in his career, claiming Third-Team honors as a freshman and First-Team honors in 2018. The publication also named the four-year Golden Eagle as the 2016 National Co-Freshman Player of the Year.

In his final season suiting up in the purple and gold, Strohschein turned in a .382/.447/.691 slash line while driving in 47 runs and scoring 57. In 54 games, he collected 89 hits, including 23 doubles, two triples and 15 home runs.

Throughout the 2019 campaign, Strohschein laid waste to the Tech and OVC record books, setting new career standards for both in hits (362), doubles (74), home runs (62), RBI (247), total bases (642) and at bats (1,009). He also finished second in league history, as well as first in program history, in runs scored (238), games played (236) and games started (236). His 362 career hits were enough for him to crack the top-10 of the NCAA Division I Baseball career hits list as well.

A native of McDonough, Ga., Strohschein joined a group of individuals on the All-American First Team that included 12 conference players or pitchers of the year. Oregon State catcher Adley Rutschman was named the National Player of the Year.
