Tennessee Tech Baseball Midweek Preview (5/7)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 19 nationally-ranked Tennessee Tech baseball team will make its return to Nashville Tuesday evening, taking on Vanderbilt at Hawkins Field in a 6:30 p.m. CT match-up.
The Golden Eagles enter the contest having won 31 of their past 32 games, including a three-game sweep over in-state rival Belmont over the weekend, which clinched Tech at least a share of the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title for the second straight year. Tech earned its first national ranking from Perfect Game Monday morning, coming in at No. 25 nationally. The team is now ranked in all six national polls for the first time in program history.
The Golden Eagle offense has continued its record-setting pace in 2018, leading the nation in batting average (.353), hits (613), home runs (106), home runs per game (2.30), on base percentage (.445), runs (506), scoring (11.0), slugging percentage (.620) and win/loss percentage (.870). The Golden Eagles also rank second in doubles (116), second in doubled per game (2.52) and seventh in base on balls (264).
