Nate Perry enters his first year as a Sports Information Coordinator at Tennessee Tech for 2018-19.

Perry comes to Tech from Central Michigan University, where he was a graduate student assistant in the Chippewas’ athletic communications office while completing his master’s degree in Sport Administration.

Starting as a general intern at CMU in August 2016, Perry rose to be named primary contact for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field in September. He improved coverage for both sports with in-depth articles on the athletics website and increased fan engagement on social media with the use of graphics and unique video perspectives.

Remaining on campus during the summer of 2017, Perry continued to assist the department, most notably as the point-person for production of the CMU football media guide. Upon its completion, he assumed additional duties for the following athletic year, including being made primary contact for baseball, along with statistics recording roles for football, volleyball, women’s basketball, and baseball/softball.

Perry spent the summer of 2015 as an intern with the Traverse City Beach Bums, an independent league professional baseball team. During his time with Traverse City, he oversaw the daily operations of the press box, which included managing statistics and public address scripts, as well as content for the video and message boards at the stadium.

Perry is a 2014 graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., where he completed his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and spent two years calling games for the women’s club hockey team. For two years following graduation, he worked as part of a radio broadcast team covering high football and basketball for his alma mater, Manistee (Mich.) Catholic Central, of which he is a 2009 graduate.

In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, fishing, ice fishing, and spending time with his family.
