Athletes of the Week

Tennessee Tech selects a Male and Female Athlete of the Week throughout the athletic season
to recognize outstanding performances by Golden Eagle student-athletes.

May 18 - May 24

Cody Littlejohn
Baseball

Senior | Left Fielder | Decatur, Ala.
Littlejohn was a dominant force, batting .556 and slugging 1.278 while compiling multiple hits in each of Tech’s four games. In the season finale, the left fielder tied two program records with three home runs and 15 total bases in the second contest of a doubleheader with SIUE. He hammered a three-run bomb in the ninth to kick off a five-run rally in Tech's 13-12 walk-off win.



May 11 - May 17

Brett Roberts
Baseball

Freshman | Second Baseman | Atlanta, Ga.
Roberts was the top offensive weapon for the Golden Eagles during the week, compiling a .421 batting average and .632 slugging percentage in four games. He drove in six runs while scoring seven times and delivered his fifth home run of the year, one of his eight hits during the week.

Lyn'Nikka Vance
Track & Field

Sophomore | Monee, Ill.
Vance consistently found herself in the top-10 finishers during the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, compiling 16 points for the purple and gold across four events. She placed third in the 100m final, fifth in both the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay and seventh in the long jump.

Ed Johnson
Baseball

Sophomore | Shortstop | Trussville, Ala.
Johnson led the purple and gold to its first three-game sweep of Morehead State since 2013, batting .385 with team-highs of four RBI and four runs scored. He blasted a pair of round-trippers, including one to tie the first game of the series. He hit a go-ahead bomb in game two and scored the winning run in Tech's walk-off victory in the series finale.

Alyssa Arden
Softball

Junior | Pitcher | Goodlettsville, Tenn.
Arden helped the Golden Eagles cap the 2021 campaign with a victory, picking up her 10th of the season in the season finale over UT Martin. For the week, the junior hurler tossed 14.0 innings while allowing just three earned runs for an ERA of 1.50. She held opposing batters to just a .204 average while gathering a pair of punch-outs.

April 27 - May 3

Golston Gillespie
Baseball

R-Sophomore | First Baseman | Ila, Ga.
Gillespie mashed for the Golden Eagles in four games, batting .571 with a .647 on-base percentage and 1.214 slugging percentage. He drove in five runs while scoring four, contributing a double, a triple and a pair of home runs to his team's efforts on the week. The slugger crushed a game-tying, two-run blast with two outs in the ninth in a 10-winning win over Belmont.

Cayla Johnson
Track & Field

Freshman | Upper Marlboro, Md.
Johnson turned in the best showing of her young career in Tech's final regular-season meet of the year, setting a trio of personal records at the Tennessee Challenge. She registered a distance of 5.42m in the long jump and followed it up with a time of 16.18 in the 100m hurdles. Rounding out her weekend, she raced to a time of 27.75 in the 200m.

April 20 - April 26

Evzen Holis
Tennis

Freshman | Brno, Czech Republic
Holis finished the 2021 OVC Championships a perfect 4-0 for the Golden Eagles, claiming wins in both of his singles and doubles bouts. He earned a straight-sets win (6-1, 6-2) over Austin Peay in the semifinals and a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Belmont, keeping Tech in the fight for a tournament title. 

Sydney Love-Baker
Softball

Senior | Infielder | Washington, D.C.
Love-Baker was one of Tech's top offensive weapons during the week, batting .385 with a slugging percentage of .692 and .467 on-base percentage. The senior scored a team-high four runs while blasting a home run and driving in a pair of runs. She added a double to the mix as well.

April 13 - April 19

Ty Fisher
Baseball

Freshman | Left-Handed Pitcher | Dalton, Ga.
Fisher was dominant on the hill for the Golden Eagles in their weekend victory at Southeast Missouri, tossing a career-high eight and one-third innings while allowing just a single run. The rookie held the Redhawks scoreless through the opening eight frames and did not issue a single walk in the contest.

Haeli Bryson
Softball

Junior | Pitcher/Infielder | Otto, N.C.
Bryson delivered a pair of great performances in the circle to help Tech to a pair of weekend wins over SIUE, throwing a pair of complete games for two wins. She covered 16 innings while posting an 0.88 ERA while issuing just two free passes and striking out five Cougar batters in the pair of victories.

April 6 - April 12

Bracton Womack
Men's Golf

Senior | McMinnville, Tenn.
Womack was elite for the Golden Eagles at the Golfweek Spring Invitational, placing third overall among 57 participants at True Blue Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The senior fired a career-best 9-under 207 for the three-round event while carding a career-low round of 67 to put a ribbon on his tournament. He finished all three rounds under par.

Isabelle Austin
Soccer

Senior | Goalkeeper | Sylvania, Ohio
Austin was a wall in helping the Golden Eagles secure a 1-1 draw in the season finale against Eastern Kentucky, making a season-high 10 saves with just a single goal allowed in the match. The senior made four stops in each half and added one each for the two overtime periods played in the 1-1 tie. Her 10 saves tied her career-high mark set in the 2019 home finale.

March 30 - April 5

Carlos Vicente
Tennis

Sophomore | Valencia, Spain
Vicente helped the Golden Eagles to a pair of victories over Jacksonville State and UAB, finishing 2-0 in the No. 1 singles spot and 1-1 in doubles action. He won in straight sets against JSU's Joaquin Vallejo, 6-4, 6-3 and followed it with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 victory over UAB's Roman Postolkas one day later. 

Gabby Garcia
Soccer

Freshman | Forward | Elizabethtown, Ky.
Garcia continued her hot start to her Golden Eagle career, accounting for Tech's first goal in the team's 2-1 win at Jacksonville State. The rookie played 56 minutes in the match, registering a pair of shots on goal in the victory. She also played 43 minutes with a shot in Tech's loss to SIUE.

March 23 - March 29

Evzen Holis
Tennis

Freshman | Brno, Czech Republic
Holis went a perfect 2-0 during the week while helping propel the Golden Eagles to a decisive, 7-0 victory over Eastern Illinois in OVC play. Pairing with teammate Jun Sasagawa in the No. 1 doubles position, the two helped Tech secure the first point of the match with a 6-2 win. He followed it up with a quick and dominant, 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles position.

Ali Verzani
Volleyball

Senior | Outside Hitter | Sioux City, Iowa
Verzani was special to close out the 2020-21 season, posting 32 total kills on an impressive .280 hitting percentage. The senior tallied 15 kills in Tech’s first win over Belmont, accounting for her fifth double-double of the year with 15 digs. She put the Golden Eagles on her back in the second match, registering a season-high 17 kills with a robust .318 hitting percentage.

March 16 - March 22

Ed Johnson
Baseball

Sophomore | Shortstop | Trussville, Ala.
Johnson had a monster week in helping the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 mark, batting .500 with a .550 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. He tallied nine hits, eight runs, and three home runs while driving in 11 runs and playing perfect defense. At North Alabama, he racked up a season-high six RBI while delivering a grand slam. He homered in three-straight games during the week as well.

Taylor Dorsey
Volleyball

Junior | Middle Blocker | Birmingham, Ala.
Dorsey put the Golden Eagles on her back in helping the purple and gold to a two-match sweep at Murray State, compiling a team-high 29 kills and a whopping 16 blocks. Averaging 3.22 kills and 1.78 blocks per set, the junior middle blocker also registered an eye-popping .387 hitting percentage for the weekend through nine sets. In the second match, she posted her second double-double of the year with 14 kills and 10 total blocks.

March 9 - March 15

Ty Fisher
Baseball

Freshman | Left-Handed Pitcher | Dalton, Ga.
Fisher kept his hot streak rolling in Tech's series finale at Austin Peay with a seven-inning, complete-game shutout. The southpaw scattered four hits in the contest, holding the Govs to a .160 average. He allowed no other base runners and just one extra-base knock while punching out five batters to garner his second win of the year.

Selma Askildsen
Soccer

Freshman | Defender | Hosle, Norway
Askildsen was a rock in helping anchor a dominant defense through back-to-back shut-out wins over Morehead State and Eastern Illinois. She never left the pitch, playing all 184 minutes, including the extra period in Tech's overtime victory against the Panthers. Tech held its opponents to just nine shots on goal. 

March 2 - March 8

Evzen Holis
Tennis

Freshman | Brno, Czech Republic
Holis helped lead the Golden Eagles to their first victory of the year, defeating Kennesaw State 4-3. The returning freshman claimed a straight-set, 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 3 singles spot. He also joined teammate Jun Sasagawa in the No. 1 doubles slot, earning a 7-5 victory to help secure the doubles point.

Haeli Bryson
Softball

Junior | Pitcher/Infielder | Otto, N.C.
Bryson played a key role in Tech's three-game sweep over Tennessee State, leading the team with a.556 batting average and adding five doubles and a pair of RBI. In the circle, she finished 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA, a victory and a season-high six punch-outs in seven innings with zero walks.

February 22 - March 1

Jr. Clay
Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
While helping lead the Golden Eagles to wins over Austin Peay and Murray State, Clay averaged 25.5 points, 6.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. The Chattanooga native shot 52.9 percent from the floor and an eye-popping 62.5 percent from deep, hitting 10 of the 16 shots he took from distance. Against the Govs, he dropped a career-high 31 points on 6-for-8 shooting from downtown.

Anna Jones
Women's Basketball

Junior | Guard/Forward | Jackson, Tenn.
Jones was a key factor in three games for Tech last week, averaging team-highs of 14.7 points and 5.3 points per game during the span. She shot 58.6 percent from the floor and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line. She cropped a season-high 23 points in the contest against Murray State, hauling in eight boards.

February 15 - February 21

Seth Carlisle
Football

Junior | Linebacker | Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.
Carlisle led a very strong defensive performance by the Golden Eagles in their season-opening win over Austin Peay, tallying a team-high 11 tackles. He made eight solo stops in the contest, broke up a pass and recovered a fumble, one of four turnovers forced by the purple and gold.

Jordan Brock
Women's Basketball

Senior | Guard | Harlan, Ky.
Brock showed just why she is the all-time leading 3-point shooter in program history, sinking 12-of-18 tries from distance. She hit 5-of-7 from deep on her way to 21 points at TSU. The guard followed it up with a 7-for-11 showing from downtown and 30 total points at Belmont.

February 8 - February 14

Jr. Clay
Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay averaged 20.5 points on an efficient 51.4 percent shooting in two games. He was the lone Tech player in double figures against SIUE, posting 19 points with three dimes and three steals. He followed it up with a game-high 22 points on 9-for-16 shooting in Tech’s win over Eastern Illinois. 

Alyssa Arden
Softball

Junior | Pitcher | Goodlettsville, Tenn.
Arden was dominant in Tech's opening weekend of play, finishing 2-0 with a pair of complete games and a third appearance in relief. She tallied an 0.91 ERA in 15.1 innings in the circle while totaling 13 punchouts and just five walks. She surrendered just a solo run in each start.

February 1 - February 7

Keishawn Davidson
Men's Basketball

Sophomore | Guard | Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Davidson produced consistently for the purple and gold over the weekend, averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a pair of close defeats to SEMO and UT Martin. He had 13 points, six boards and five dimes at SEMO and 15 points, three rebounds and six assists at Martin.

Jordan Brock
Women's Basketball

Senior | Guard | Harlan, Ky.
Brock turned in one of her best career performances in Tech's huge win over UT Martin, accounting for 32 points, including 17 in the fourth quarter alone. She drilled 8-of-12 tries from downtown in the contest. For the week she shot 62.5 percent from downtown and 52 percent from the floor.

January 25 - January 31

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay led the Golden Eagles in scoring in the team's only action of the week. Against Morehead State, he dropped 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting. He added three steals to move into the top-10 career charts in program history and moved into 30th for the all-time scoring rankings.

Kesha Brady
Women's Basketball

Senior | Guard | Smyrna, Tenn.
Brady averaged 15.7 points and 5.7 rebounds while leading Tech to a pair of victories. At JSU, she scored 19 points with five boards a perfect 9-for-9 showing at the charity stripe. She added 16 points and eight rebounds against EKU and another 12 points and four boards versus Morehead State.

January 18 - January 24

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay turned in a game and career-high 29 points on 8-for-16 shooting and a 9-for-12 clip at the charity stripe at Austin Peay. At Murray State, he narrowly missed his third double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-high-tying nine rebounds. 

Anna Jones
Women's Basketball

Junior | Guard/Forward | Jackson, Tenn.
Jones led the Golden Eagles in scoring at Murray State, going 7-for-12 from the field, including 2-for-3 on 3-pointers for 17 points, while also pulling down seven rebounds. Against Austin Peay, she posted a game-high 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 7-for-9 at the line with four boards.

January 11 - January 17

Keishawn Davidson
Men's Basketball

Sophomore | Guard | Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Davidson poured in a career-high 19 points in the Tech win over Tennessee State, finishing the game 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-3 from downtown. He also dished out six assists and had two steals. He distributed six assists with three steals in the contest against Belmont.

Megan Clark
Women's Basketball

Senior | Guard | Tampa, Fla.
Clark was the lead scorer for the Golden Eagles in their huge win over Tennessee State. The senior collected a career-high 13 points without missing a single shot in just 12 minutes of action. She went a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor, 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.

January 4 - January 10

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay continued his strong season by averaging 17.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He dropped a game-high 20 points with four boards and three steals at Morehead State. He followed it up with the second double-double of his career with 15 points and 10 assists at EKU.

Mackenzie Coleman
Women's Basketball

Senior | Forward | Edmonton, Ky.
Coleman recorded her first double-double of the season, the eighth in her career, as she scored 15 points and collected 10 rebounds at Eastern Kentucky. She produced nine points, six rebounds and three blocks in the contest at Morehead State.

December 28 - January 3

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay was spectacular in Tech's two contests during the week, willing the Golden Eagles to their first win of the year with a season-high 22 points against SEMO, along with four rebounds, four assists and four steals. He added 19 points in Tech's game at EIU.

Mackenzie Coleman
Women's Basketball

Senior | Forward | Edmonton, Ky.
Coleman helped the Golden Eagles rally from a 15-point deficit to defeat Eastern Illinois with 17 points, two boards and two blocks in Charleston, Ill. The game prior against Southeast Missouri, she had 13 points, three boards, three assists and three steals.

December 21 - December 27

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay posted a team-high 15 points at Western Kentucky, dropping all 15 in the second half of the contest. He added three assists and two steals while playing 35 minutes. He hit five of his 11 attempts from the field and finished 3-for-6 from downtown. 

 

 

December 14 - December 20

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay led the Golden Eagles in both scoring and steals during the week while shooting 83.3 percent from the charity stripe. He posted a team-best 13 points and two steals at #10 Tennessee while tying for the team lead with four rebounds. 

Kesha Brady
Women's Basketball

Senior | Guard | Smyrna, Tenn.
Brady scored in double figures in both of Tech's wins during the week, averaging 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and hitting all seven of her free-throw attempts. She posted a team-high 15 and four boards against Western Carolina and followed with 13 points eight rebounds against WKU.

December 7 - December 13

Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Clay turned in both his first career double-double and his second-straight 20-point outing in a close loss to Jacksonville State in Tech’s OVC opener. The junior shot 50 percent from the field and from 3-point range while dishing out a career-high 10 assists. He also scored Tech’s final six points.

Kesha Brady
Women's Basketball

Senior | Guard | Smyrna, Tenn.
Brady helped will her team to a victory over Jacksonville State in the team's OVC opener, scoring a game-high 27 points while shooting 13-of-16 from the charity stripe and hauling in six rebounds. In the season opener at Chattanooga, she dropped 26 points with eight boards.

November 30 - December 6

Jr. Clay
Men's Basketball

Junior | Guard | Chattanooga, Tenn.
After missing the first three games of the season due to COVID protocol, Clay didn't miss a beat after joining the Golden Eagles, averaging 15.0 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals in two games on the road. He dropped 20 points and four steals in the heart-breaking, overtime loss at Western Carolina.

 

November 23 - November 29

Keishawn Davidson
Men's Basketball

Sophomore | Guard | Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Davidson turned in another great season debut, scoring a team-high 17 points at Indiana to open the 2020-21 campaign. The sophomore also led the team with three assists and tacked on four rebounds, a steal and a block in 36 minutes of action against the Hoosiers.
