Tom Pack made his way to Tennessee Tech from Maryville High School, where he enjoyed a decorated prep golf career that included an individual district championship and McDonald’s District Player of the Year recognition in 1985.

As a freshman, Tom Pack established himself as one of the strongest players on the Golden Eagle squad, averaging a team second best 76.6 strokes per 18 holes through 16 rounds of play. Pack’s performance helped Tech to a sixth-place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference and top three finishes in the Springbrook Eagle Classic and Tennessee Intercollegiate Tournament.

In 1988, Pack recorded an average of 77.5 strokes over 16 rounds and placed second in the Springbrook Collegiate tournament. That season, the Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 57-16, including championships at the Tennessee Intercollegiate and Eagle Classic.

As a senior, Pack led the charge as the Golden Eagles captured the Ohio Valley Conference golf championship for the first time in 35 years. Tech was able to earn first place in three of its last four tournaments of the spring season, largely thanks to Pack who was able to earn medalist honors in the last two events of his career, including a 54-hole stroke total of 208 at the OVC championship. The golf championship secured Tennessee Tech the 1989-1990 Ohio Valley Conference All-Sports crown.
