Kurt Fitz-Randolph claimed back-to-back individual NCAA championships in smallbore rifle in 1981 and 1982, helping the Golden Eagleye rifle team capture three consecutive NCAA team crowns under coach Jim Newkirk. Following in the footsteps of Rod Fitz-Randolph’s 1979 and 1980 individual NCAA crowns, the brother combination from Palm Bay, Florida made it a run of four straight national individual championships in smallbore.

Kurt was an eight-time All-America selection, earning four honors each in smallbore and air rifle during his career at Tech from 1979-82. He was also a Dean’s List student, and earned distinction from the ROTC department.

Following his graduation in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Kurt spent nearly 10 years as a captain in the U.S. Army Infantry and Special Forces, continuing to compete and win in shooting events on the national and international levels. He earned a master’s degree in Sports Management in 1988 from the U.S. Sports Academy in Mobile, Ala.

Kurt worked at least three years as a Special Agent for the U.S. Immigration Service. He also worked as a major in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was an active member of the Army Reserve shooting team.
