Tommy Hackler put his name in the Tech football record books several times during his two seasons with the Golden Eagles. He was named All-OVC in both 1959 and 1960 and voted by his teammates to receive the Robert Hill Johnson Award as the team's Most Valuable Player in 1960. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49'ers in 1961 and later played with the Chicago Bears.
