Youngblood was the first non-linemen to be a two-time All-American at Tech. He held the single-season and career tackle records. He made 165 stops in 1972 to raise his career total to 476. He won two OVC Defensive Player of the Year Awards and the Robert Hill Johnson Award. The Los Angeles Rams drafted him in the second round as their first pick. Over his 13-year NFL career, he earned both a Pro Bowl nod and was named Second-Team All-Pro.
