Malcolm Quillen's association with Tech began in 1930, and he was successful as a player, coach, and administrator. On the baseball diamond, he was Tech's leading hitter for three seasons, and on the gridiron, Quillen was Tech's leading scorer. Quillen returned to Tech in 1954 as head coach of the baseball team, as well as assistant football coach. His baseball teams won two conference titles and one regional crown in his four seasons. The baseball field is named in his honor.
