GETTING TO KNOW DENNIS OGBE

 

2011-12 (SOPHOMORE):
Played in 31 contests, making 20 starts… played an average of 10.2 minutes per game… scored 3.0 points per game while pulling down 1.5 boards per contest… averaged 0.3 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game… scored in double-digits twice, with a season-high 11 coming against East Tennessee State (Dec. 7)… dished out a season-best mark of two assists and nabbed a season-best mark of two steals versus Tennessee State (Jan. 5)… made 20 consecutive starts from Dec. 3 to Feb. 9, racking up a season-high 23 minutes versus East Tennessee State (Dec. 7).

2010-11 (FRESHMAN):
Started four of 30 games played in… finished third on the team while shooting 80.0% from the charity stripe… averaged 10.1 minutes on the floor per contest… scored 3.5 points and grabbed 1.8 boards per game… averaged 0.2 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game… put up double-digits in points in three contests, with a career-high 18 versus UT Martin (Jan. 13)… also compiled a career-best 30 minutes and nine rebounds against UT Martin (Jan. 13)… notched season-bests in blocks and steals with two of each against Bluefield College (Jan. 2).

HIGH SCHOOL:                                                                                                     
Began his basketball career in the second grade of elementary school with the youth team of sports club TSV Unterhaching, a small town near Munich... played there until 2007 when he joined the basketball club “Franken Hexer” in Nuernberg... averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and two steals per game in the NBBL and was selected to play in the All-Star Game (the equivalent to the USA’s McDonald’s High School All-Star Game), scoring 13 points in that spotlight event... in his NBBL Final Four contest, Ogbe chipped in with 23 points and nine rebounds.

Full name is Dennis Osasumwen Ogbe… son of Festus Ogbe and Margitta Linue… born Oct. 4, 1991… majoring in Electrical Engineering… named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times and to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll twice.
