Jala is a talented student-athlete that transfered to Tennessee Tech from UAB...she has made an immediate impact since joining the Golden Eagles back in December and has been named the OVC Newcomer of the Week twice.

UAB: Named C-USA Freshman and Sixth Player of the Year...also named second team All-C-USA and to the C-USA All-Freshman Team...received C-USA All-Tournament honors...earned C-USA Freshman of the Week five times...set a school record for freshmen with 103 assists ... averaged 15.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 3.2 apg...scored 25 points in her collegiate debut...also grabbed nine rebounds and went 7-of-8 from the stripe...became the first player in C-USA history to earn three straight weekly awards after receiving Freshman of the Week honors...became the first freshman in C-USA history to score 40 points in a game against Marshall... finished freshman season with 24 double-digit games...wrapped up her career at UAB with 693 points, 138 assists and 129 rebounds.

High School: Jala played four seasons as a point guard for Bob Jones High School...she helped guide her team to two state championships and received the award of Miss Basketball...named the Regional MVP her junior and senior seasons...named first-team all-state her senior season, averaging 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds a game.

Personal: Jala is the daughter of Willie and Carolyn Harris...born July 8, 1991...full name Jala Lynn Harris...majoring in criminal justice.
