Mohamed, Jesang claim top-finishes at Murray State Open

MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech cross country teams closed out their regular season on Friday at the Murray State Open at Miller Memorial Golf Course, as both Ababu Mohamed and Nancy Jesang claimed top-place finishes in both races and the women's team earned a runner-up finish.

Tech had three runners place in the top-10 on the women's side with Jesang leading the way for in first as she finished with a time of 19:00.1. Rahab Sawe followed as she finished sixth on the day and clocked a time of 20:12.7. Sharon Chepkemboi rounded out the top-10 placers in that 10th spot after crossing the line in 21:03.6.

Alexa Brugere and Madeline Watts were the Golden Eagles last two scorers, finishing in 21st and 31st, respectively.

On the men's side, Mohamed paced the Golden Eagles with a first-place finish and clocking a time of 26:12.9. Gabriel Kiprono was Tech's second top-5 finisher as he finished fourth with a time of 26:39.7.

Benard Sigei and Sam Eastin were the Golden Eagles last two finishers, placing 20th and 40th, respectively.

The Golden Eagles will take the next week off as they prepare for the OVC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2 hosted by SIUE in Edwardsville, Illinois.
