TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech women's cross country team is set to appear in the NCAA South Regional Championships on Friday, which will be hosted by the University of Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Park.

Each NCAA Regional serves as a qualifying meet for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships – the top two teams in each men's and women's race, along with the top four men's and women's individual finishers who are not members of those teams, will advance to the championship meet on Nov. 18 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The women's 6k will be the first race of the day at 9 a.m. CT.

Tech will run freshman Purity Sanga and seniors Anna Cooper, Micayla Rennick and Madison Stremler.

At the 2016 NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Florida, the Tech women's team placed 21st. Micayla Rennick finished 42nd with a time of 21:20.7, and Madison Stremler was 169th in 23:28.1.

Anna Cooper and Purity Sanga will each be making their first appearance at a South Regional.
