Women's cross country makes appearance at Pre-Nationals

LOUISVILLE – The Tennessee Tech women's cross country team competed in its first 6k of the season at the adidas® Pre-National Invitational, hosted by the University of Louisville on Saturday morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.

The Golden Eagles ran in the black unseeded 6k race but could not record a team finish, as their fifth scorer, Micayla Rennick, suffered an injury.

"Our women were solid today," said head coach Wayne Angel. "They competed very well despite losing Micayla to a foot injury. I'm confident that we will be able to pull things together by conference."

Purity Sanga led the Golden Eagles with a 38^th-place finish and time of 21:52.4. Madison Stremler followed in 238^th, timing 24:50.8, and Anna Cooper finished close behind in 242^nd with a time of 24:56.1.

D'Airrien Jackson wrapped up the Tech squad in 258^th place, finishing in 28:59.5.
