BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Sophomore Gilbert Boit and freshman Purity Sanga have been named the adidas® OVC Male and Female Runners of the Week, as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference office Tuesday.

Both runners competed at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, this past Saturday, where the Tech men finished in the runner-up spot and the women placed 17th in both teams' first-ever appearance at the meet.

Boit won the meet, his second individual title in as many meets this season. His time of 24:30.9 put him at sixth all-time in Tech's 8k record books.

In just her second competition as a Golden Eagle, Sanga placed third of 285 total runners. Her time of 17:46.8 now stands as the fifth-fastest in Tech 5k history.

This marks Boit's third weekly honor of his two-year career at Tech, while Sanga is the first female runner from Tech to win a weekly honor since Yeshi Dohrmann in October 2014.

Tech has not swept the OVC Runner of the Week awards since Geoffrey Sambu and Dohrmann won the male and female honors respectively on Oct. 14, 2014.
