BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- It was a tremendous learning experience for the Tennessee Tech women's cross country team Saturday morning as the Golden Eagles faced a tough opponent on an extremely challenging course at the Indiana Open. As expected, the host Hoosiers swept the top places and won the dual meet by a 15-50 score.

Covering a 5K course which was slick from light rains and featured hill after hill, the Golden Eagle women took it in stride as a lesson learned in the 2014 season.

"I think this was an outstanding experience for our runners," said first-year coach Wayne Angel. "They got a chance to learn what it takes to compete at a very high level, how to face adversity, and how to fight through it when things aren't 'comfortable.' This was a tough course, possibly the toughest we'll see, and they had to find a way to compete and grind it out. I think we'll be better in the future because of what we did today."

Senior Yeshi Dohrmann led Tech for the second straight week, placing 21st overall with a time of 21:37.4. She was followed across the line by Sarah Wilson (22:04.2), Anna Cooper (22:13.7), Lera McNamara (22:21.3), Baylee Balgemann (22:33.4) and Landy Loving (22:45.0).

Next week the Golden Eagles will run at the Commodore Classic, a meet hosted in Nashville by Vanderbilt.
