EVANSVILLE, Ind. – John Greene captured seventh place in the men's race and Rebecca Cline claimed 12th place and both of Tennessee Tech's cross country team finished in fourth place among the Division I teams competing Saturday at the Evansville Invitational.

The typically fast course, which usually yields career-best times on good days, was slowed by steady rains overnight Friday. Freshman Jordan Roth was the only Golden Eagle runner to eclipse his personal-best mark during the 8K men's run, and two members of the TTU women's team came close but missed setting new career 5K numbers.

Western Kentucky won the women's portion of the race with 23 points, followed by Evansville (32), Marshall (81) and Tennessee Tech (99). Eight more teams ran in the field, all competing on the non-Division I level.

In the men's race, Marshall grabbed the team title with 37 points, followed by Western Kentucky (50), Evansville (63) and Tech (65).

Cline covered the distance in 19:37.35 to place 12th individually, leading Tech for the fifth time this season. Peri Winborne placed 18th in 20:08.68, followed by Yeshi Dorhmann in 23rd place in 20:31.31. Placing fourth for Tech was Meghan O'Donoghue in 25th place with a time of 20:47.88, just a few seconds shy of her career-best. Amelia McCoy placed fifth on the squad, finishing 27th in 20:59.93, followed by Elizabeth Mitchell in 34th place (21:55.94), Claire Cashin in 35th place (22:02.97), Sarah Wilson in 39th place (22:37.20), and Landry Loving in 40th place (23:42.89).

Greene ran his race in 26:22.52 for his seventh place finish, with Sterling Smith finishing 12th in 27:02.88. Roth's time of 27:23.39 placed him 13th, followed by Daniel Williamson in 15th place (27:27.46), Matt Bishop in 18th place (27:48.63) and Sam Lariviere in 21st (27:59.61).

The next action for the Golden Eagles is the Ohio Valley Conference championships, slated for Saturday, Nov. 2, at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead, Ky.
