COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech senior Tiffany Palmer is
expected to run among the leaders Saturday when the Ohio Valley
Conference holds the 2009 Cross Country Championships at Percy
Warner Park in Nashville. The men's 8K race gets underway at 9
a.m., with the women's 5K event slated for a 10 a.m. start. The
meets will be hosted by Tennessee State.
Palmer will lead a contingent of eight Golden Eagle runners in the meet, including three seniors but it will be the younger runners -- including three freshmen -- who must provide depth for a higher team finish.
In addition to Palmer, seniors running for coach Tony Cox on
Saturday will include Sarah Kmet and Amanda Simmons. Tech's OVC
lineup will also include sophomores Traci Jones and Mary Beth
Norris, and freshmen Kathryn Forbes, Courtney Koehl (photo above)
and Morgan Taylor.
A year ago the Golden Eagle women captured fourth place at the OVC
meet, as Stephanie Place became the first Tech runner to win the
women's individual championship. Place, along with second-team
all-OVC runner Keri Light, are gone frm this year's lineup.
Complete meet results will be posted on TTUsports.com Saturday afternoon as soon as they become available.
