COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech's cross country teams will
return to action Saturday when they run in the Vanderbilt
Invitational in Nashville. The meet is set to get underway 9:15
a.m. with the women's 5K race, followed by the men's 8K run.
Tech did not compete at Vanderbilt in 2007. A year earlier, both
Tech teams finished fourth at the Vandy meet.
For the women's squad, four of this year's returning runners have
experience at Vanderbilt. Stephanie Place ran a 19:57 to finish
12th individually in 2006, followed by Tiffany Palmer in 30th
place. Ashley Evans (33rd) and Keri Light (41st) also know the
course from their runs two years ago.
For the Tech men's team, the top two runners in 2006 are gone --
Spencer Whittier was 11th overall and Eric Crews finished 17th --
while three returnees are familiar with the course. Ben Thompson
was 20th overall in 2006, followed by William Enicks (28th) and
Jarrad Read (31st).
Tech opened the year at the Sewanee Invitational on Saturday,
Sept. 6, and had last weekend off.
