Lola Oladinni enters her second season as an assistant coach
under head coach Dave Zelenock.
The former Middle Tennessee State standout was added to
Zelenock’s staff in August 2013.
“Bringing Lola to the staff is very beneficial for us. She
played for a mid-major that was a Top 50 program during her time,
so she knows how to win and how to train hard,” Zelenock
said. “She is from the area and has been coaching club
volleyball in the area, so she knows a lot of the key people from a
recruiting standpoint.”
Prior to joining the Tech staff, Oladinni served as a student
assistant for MTSU, aiding in practice, recruiting and video
breakdown. She also has served as a head coach with the Rutherford
County Juniors volleyball club.
During her four seasons of playing at MTSU, Oladinni was a part of
winning three conference titles, made four NCAA Tournament
appearances, and helped MTSU become a Top 50 RPI program.
A four-year letterwinner and two-time American Volleyball Coaches
Association All-American, Oladinni played middle blocker and
opposite. She finished her career with over 1,000 kills, ranks
third in MTSU for career block assists (430) and career hitting
percentage (.346). Oladinni was also named captain her senior
season.
“She was a great high-level player, and is a high-level
person. She is a very good role model for our athletes. She shows
that you can come from a mid-major school and be an
All-American,” said Zelenock.
Oladinni, a native of LaVergne, Tenn., graduated in 2011 from MTSU
with a major in physiology, and has been working on her masters in
biology.
