Brugere earns adidas® OVC Defensive Player of the Week honor

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Junior libero Kirsten Brugere has been named the adidas® Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference on Monday in its latest weekly report of the 2017 season.

The St. Charles, Missouri, native collected a total of 49 digs this past weekend in Tech's home matches against Austin Peay and Murray State, her highest total in two-consecutive matches in her career. Her 28 digs versus the Racers marked a new career-high – Brugere's previous best was 22 digs on Sept. 22 at UT Martin.

Brugere currently averages 5.03 digs per set, which is third-best of all OVC players in conference matches.

She is the first Tech volleyball player to be named Defensive Player of the Week since fellow libero Courtney Smith won the honor four times back in the 2014 season.

The list of OVC weekly honor recipients for Oct. 16 is as follows:
Offensive Player of the Week – Arianna Person (OH), Belmont
Defensive Player of the Week – Kirsten Brugere (L/DS), Tennessee Tech
Setter of the Week – Kristen Stucker, Austin Peay
Newcomer of the Week – Brooke Moore (OH), Austin Peay
 
The Golden Eagles will head back on the road this upcoming weekend, traveling to Eastern Illinois on Friday, Oct. 20 and SIUE on Saturday, Oct. 21.
