BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Junior libero Kirsten Brugere has been named the adidas® Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference on Monday in its latest weekly report of the 2017 season.
The St. Charles, Missouri, native collected a total of 49 digs this past weekend in Tech's home matches against Austin Peay and Murray State, her highest total in two-consecutive matches in her career. Her 28 digs versus the Racers marked a new career-high – Brugere's previous best was 22 digs on Sept. 22 at UT Martin.
Brugere currently averages 5.03 digs per set, which is third-best of all OVC players in conference matches.
She is the first Tech volleyball player to be named Defensive Player of the Week since fellow libero Courtney Smith won the honor four times back in the 2014 season.
