MURRAY, Ky. – The number one seed proved to be a too much for the Golden Eagles on Friday night, as the Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Murray State Racers took down the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 3-0; 25-16, 25-17, 25-13.

The Racers came out firing on all cylinders; outhitting TTU .225-.062, while putting down 17 kills to Tech's six in the first set.

Murray State never relented.

Over the three sets, Murray put down 46 kills, hitting an impressive .308. Tech recorded 27 kills on just .087.

Tech got seven kills form both junior Cody Dodd and Kellie Williams. Dodd added a team-high nine digs. Setter Sharon Anderson dished out 21 assists, adding nine digs, three kills and a team-high three blocks.

Senior libero Courtney Smith was limited to just eight digs, but her play during the tournament helped her earn a place on the Ohio Valley Conference All-Tournament Team. Smith finished her career at TTU second all-time for careers digs with 1764. This season alone she scooped up 627, again good enough for second all-time in single season digs.

Tech finished the 2014 season with a 15-19 record, and 9-7 in OVC play. For the senior class, the 15 wins were more combined than their three previous seasons. The 9-7 was the first winning conference season 2008.
