In 2014 (Senior): Courtney Smith wrapped up her Tennessee Tech career as one of the best defensive players all-time … She finished with 1,764 digs, good for second in TTU history… In her senior season, she finished with 627 digs, which placed her second all-time for a single season … was named to the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference All-Tournament Team … recorded 15 20+ dig matches, including three matches with 30+ … earned four OVC Defensive Player of the Week awards in 2014 (9/22, 9/29, 11/10, 11/17) … finished ranked first in digs per set in the OVC at 5.02.
In 2013 (Junior): Courtney played libero in 92 sets through 26 matches for the Tech squad…earned the President’s Award from Tennessee Tech…passed 1,000 career digs…recorded a career-high eight assists against Coastal Carolina (9/13)…had season-high three service aces in back-to-back matches against Kennesaw State (9/13) and Coastal Carolina…finished the season with 20+ digs in seven matches…named to the TTU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
In 2012 (Sophomore): Courtney started all 28 matches at libero for the Golden Eagles...recorded double-digit digs in every match, including nine games with over 20 digs...recorded a career-best 31 digs twice during the season...finished fourth in digs per set in the OVC... named to the TTU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in the spring semester.
In 2011 (Freshman): Courtney appeared in 106 sets during her freshman season and finished second on the team in digs with 216…tallied 12 service aces and passed out five assists…notched at least 10 digs in seven matches, including a career-high 21 against Chattanooga (9/10)…posted five service aces against Jacksonville State (10/4)…named to the TTU Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
High School: Courtney played four seasons as a libero on the Karns varsity volleyball team under coach Kynette Williams…she helped her team to state appearances in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and received All-American honors.
