COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech volleyball team was unable to handle the hot-hitting Belmont Bruins Saturday afternoon as they lost the Ohio Valley Conference match three sets to none, 25-17, 25-12, 25-14.
The Bruins were on fire during the opening set, and it continued throughout the entire match. The visitors committed just one hitting error in each of the first two sets, and finished the match with just six overall, while putting away 48 kills. Belmobnt hit an impressive .438 as a team for the match.
The Golden Eagles were led by senior Natalie Penrod who put down a team-high 10 kills, and added six digs. Senior Ashleigh Hancock added 27 assists, while junior Courtney Smith tallied 17 digs.
The Bruins saw both Jen Myer and Scarlet Gable both tally a team-high 10 kills, while Alex Martin added 9 kills, with no errors while hitting .750. Hannah Miranda added 31 assists and Jamie Lindstrom registered 14 digs.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road next weekend as they travel to Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. Tech takes on EKU on Friday at 6 p.m. CDT and will play Morehead State at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
