Golden Eagles wrap up non-conference play this weeekend at UT Chattanooga Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –The Tennessee Tech volleyball team will head to Chattanooga, Tenn., this weekend for its final non-conference tournament of the season, the UT Chattanooga Invitational.

The Golden Eagles open the tournament Friday, at 2 p.m., against UNC Asheville, and follow with a pair of matches on Saturday including Chattanooga, at 9 a.m., and East Tennessee State, at 3 p.m. Tech enters the weekend with an 0-7 record following a 3-0 loss to Belmont Tuesday.

"They are all good teams this weekend," head coach John Blair said. "They are all well-coached and all capable of winning."

The UNC Asheville Bulldogs enter the weekend the owners of a 3-4 record. Cindi Miller currently leads the Bulldog offense with 80 kills, while Hallie Morse leads the team in assists with 206. The Golden Eagles are 5-0 all-time against the Bulldogs, including a 3-0 victory back in 2007.

Chattanooga has put together a 1-6 record on the season, which includes a 3-0 loss to Belmont. The Lady Mocs have three players with at least 64 kills including Jennifer Kosycarz, who leads the team in kills with 70. TTU owns a 26-8 all-time record against UTC, including a 3-2 win back in 2007.

ETSU enters the weekend with a 3-5 record, including a 3-1 loss to OVC rival Austin Peay. Megan Devine currently leads the Buccaneer offense with 122 kills, while Kiley Tamblyn has posted a team-high in digs with 118.

"We have to be the underdog going into this tournament," Blair said. "We have not played well, so it is up to us to show that we can compete with these teams."
