Golden Eagles late rally falls short at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tennessee Tech volleyball team put together a rally in the third set against Austin Peay, but it was not enough as the Lady Govs were able to take the match in four sets.

After a pair of quick losses in the opening sets, the Golden Eagles came back from the break with new life in the third set. TTU found itself trailing early but was able to remain close through the set. Down 16-13, the Golden Eagles won the next five points as they took the lead for good, en route to a 25-22 third set victory.

TTU continued to battle into the fourth set but the Lady Govs were able to recover in time to take the set 25-20, and the match.

On offense the Golden Eagles were led by sophomore Natalie Penrod's 13 kills, while freshman Ellen Conti added 11 kills of her own. Junior Madison Comperry dished out 23 assists, while sophomore Allison May led the Tech defense with 17 digs.

TTU (4-21, 3-12 OVC) continues its road trip Saturday against Tennessee State, at 2 p.m.
