COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Leah Meffert was honored by the Ohio Valley Conference as she was named the Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts during Tennessee Tech's most recent matches against Southeast Missouri State and Eastern Illinois.
Meffert is the first Golden Eagle to receive an OVC Player of
the Week award this season and the first since Nov. 11 of the 2009
season when Katie Kenline earned the OVC Defensive Player of the
Week award.
The 6-0 outside hitter out of Louisville, Ky., tallied 39
kills (4.33 kps) over the two matches while hitting at a solid mark
of .267. In Tech's match against EIU, Meffert posted a
game-high 24 kills.
Meffert also chipped in with 24 digs and six service aces in
TTU's two matches.
"Leah has been one of the leaders on this team with the
energy and effort she brings," head coach John Blair said.
"Every time she is on the court she gives us a chance to
win."
Tech begins a three-match home stand Friday, as it hosts
Jacksonville State at 7 p.m.
