In 2008 (Sophomore): Laura appeared in 65 sets for the Golden Eagles and was a key player off the bench down the stretch...finished the season with nine service aces, including a career-high two aces against Tennessee State on Sept. 20...notched an ace in four straight games in the second half of the season...posted a season-high five digs against Purdue on Sept. 5...had season totals of 14 points, 14 digs, five kills and three assists.
In 2007 (Freshman): Laura came off the bench in
several matches during her first year on the court and provided a
presence that lifted the Golden Eagles to several key wins...known
to fans as a player with a running jump serve, she had seven total
service aces, but her serves led to several free-ball returns and
Tech kills...she set her career-high in kills early in the season
with 14 against Memphis on Aug. 25....she tallied 70 kills over the
course of the season with a 1.11 kills per game average...on the
defensive side of the net, Laura had 82 digs and three total
blocks.
Prep Highlights: A three-sport athlete at Fort
Collins High School, Laura lettered three years in volleyball as an
outside hitter for head coach Lindsay Kerr...she was also a member
of the basketball team for two seasons as a point guard for coach
Kyle Tregoning and lettered twice in track and field, competing in
sprints and the shot put, for coach Pat Busteed... Laura received
the PAC player award and was named first-team all-conference...
Laura was also a member of the NORCO 18-Black, one of the premier
Olympic volleyball programs in Colorado, coached by Tom Hunter and
Miles Wagner.
