COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Junior Alex Chen (in photo) will play in the
top singles and doubles flights to lead the Tennessee Tech men's
tennis team this weekend when it opens the fall tournament schedule
at the UNC Greensboro Invitational.
Second-year head coach Kenny Doyle has a lineup of six players
competing in the tournament, with play Friday, Saturday and
Sunday.
Chen will play in the A1 singles flight and team with junior
Justin Kirstein in the A Doubles flight. Tech's entry in the B
Doubles flight will be the duo of Lloyd Harris and John Taylor,
while in C Doubles, Tech's pair is Josh Girling and Arturo Santo
Ruiz.
Girling and Kirstein will compete in teh A2 singles flight, and
could meet in the semis if they both reach that mark. Santo Ruiz
will play in the A3 singles flight, while Taylor and Lloyd are both
in the A4 singles flight. That final pair is in different ends of
the bracket and could meet in the finals Sunday if they each win
three matches to get there.
