MOREHEAD, Ky. – A late Morehead State goal was the difference maker in an otherwise defensive battle Thursday night in the Tennessee Tech soccer team's first OVC road match of the year. Scoreless late into the second half, Morehead's Kate Larbes found the back of the net in the 81st minute to push the Eagles to a 1-0 victory.

The winner was one of four shots on-goal for Morehead State (3-5-3, 1-0-1 OVC), with Tech goalkeeper Isabelle Austin collecting three saves in defeat. Overall, the Golden Eagles (1-5-1, 0-2-0) dropped the shot battle, 11-8. Tech took one attempt on-goal behind a Yao Giada Zhou try in the 60th minute.

Giada Zhou and Chloe Smith paced the purple and gold with two shots apiece. Emily Carlevato, Taylor Rhodes, Natalie Rolen and Bailey Taylor each took an attempt as well.

Morehead was led by two tries out of Larbes, Nicole Fiantaco and Colleen Swift. Michelle Jerantowski carded the win in between the pipes with her one stop on Giada Zhou's shot on-point early in the second stanza.

Austin's three halts all came within the first 30 minutes of the match thanks to saves on a Swift shot in the 2nd minute, a Katie Kiolbassa try in the 11th minute and a Sarah Faloon bid in the 26th minute.

TTU is set to return home for a Sunday night get-together with Belmont in the third conference clash of the campaign. First kick from Tech Soccer Field is slated for 6 p.m. CT. Admission is free of charge.
