COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's soccer team is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its first varsity season this year and all past Golden Eagle players are invited back for Legends Weekend on October 2.

On September 8, 1996, the Tennessee Tech squad played its first contest against Eastern Illinois and watched the program soar to new heights each season, earning Ohio Valley Conference championships and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Legends Weekend festivities surround the Tech football game against Southeast Missouri on Oct. 2. The day begins at 11:15 as the Golden Eagle football team has its Eagle Walk into Tucker Stadium. A tailgate in the Purple and White tent with former Tech student-athletes and their guests will begin at 11:30. The soccer alumni will also be recognized during the football game.

Kickoff for the game against the Redhawks is at 1:30 p.m.

The soccer alumni are invited to the team's practice on October 1 from 4-6 p.m. and October 2 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tech Soccer will also play October 3 against Belmont at 6 p.m. Attendance for Tech Soccer matches is free to the public.

Also being recognized on Oct. 2 is the 1986 Tech volleyball team for the 35th anniversary of their OVC regular-season championship, the 2011 Tech football team for the 10th anniversary of their OVC championship and Football Championship Subdivision Playoff appearance, and the 1961 football team for the 60th anniversary of their OVC title.

Complimentary tickets will be available for soccer alumni and their guests.
