COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A thin weekend of action is on the books for the Tennessee Tech soccer team, with just one match scheduled on the docket. The Golden Eagles will be at Murray State Friday afternoon for a 3 p.m. CT tilt with the Racers.

A look at Tech
The Golden Eagles (5-5-0, 1-2-0 OVC) are preparing for another weekend of just one match after weather wreaked havoc in the club's plans last Sunday. Scheduled to host Belmont on Sept. 23, sturdy rainfall in the Cookeville area forced a postponement that will now see the two clubs meet on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Tech's only match of the weekend was a 3-1 loss at UT Martin on Friday, Sept. 21. Sophomore Kendall Powell accounted for TTU's lone goal in the contest, an 84th minute penalty kick that extended the Cookeville native's team lead with six scores this season. The 5-foot-7 sophomore is currently second in the OVC in goals scored and is also pacing the Golden Eagles with 22 shots and 12 shots on-goal.
As an offensive unit, Tech has scored 13 goals this season to put the purple and gold in a tie for third in the conference. The baker's dozen is already one more goal scored than all of last year.
Two Golden Eagles have not left the pitch this season as juniors Kaitie Shipley and Rachel Blow have tallied 903 minutes apiece. Freshman Kaylee Sunders has played in 900 minutes on the year.
A look at Murray State
Selected as the preseason No. 1 in the conference's predicted order of finish, the Racers (6-2-1, 2-1-0 OVC) have claimed four straight OVC regular season championships, in addition to last year's OVC Tournament crown.
A rarity for the Racers in the club's last clash, Murray State fell 2-1 in overtime at SIUE on Sunday, Sept. 23 to break a 33-OVC match unbeaten streak dating back to the 2014 campaign. The Racers recorded 28 victories and five draws over that span, including a scoreless deadlock at Tennessee Tech last season.
Paced by a trio of Racers in the top five in the OVC, Murray State is second in the conference with 18.56 shots per match. Junior Miyah Watford leads the OVC with 52 shots, while sophomore Rebecca Kubin is fourth with 30 shots and freshman Abby Jones is in fifth with 28 shots.
Watford leads the conference with seven goals and 16 points this season. Jones has an OVC-best five assists and is second behind Watford with 11 points.
Murray State leads the all-time series 11-7-2 with the Golden Eagles. The two teams played to a scoreless draw in Cookeville last year.
