MARTIN, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech soccer team fell victim to a quick Skyhawk start that ultimately led to a 3-1 loss Friday night in Martin. Alice Adams scored just over three minutes into the match and Amy McGivern padded the lead with two second-half goals as the Skyhawks improved to 2-0 in OVC play.

Kendall Powell scored for the Golden Eagles (5-5-0, 1-2-0 OVC) in the 84th minute, a penalty kick that split the pipes for the Cookeville native's sixth goal of the season. Overall it was Tech's 13th goal of the year, surpassing last year's mark of 12 Golden Eagle goals.

Powell's net-finder was the only TTU shot on-goal, with the purple and gold securing six total shots in the contest. Powell accounted for half of Tech's shots with three, while Viviana Lomeli attempted two and Molly Kafader was responsible for one.

UT Martin (7-2-0, 2-0-0 OVC) collected 19 shots, 10 of which were on-goal for a new season-high yielded by the Tech defense. Nicole Collins and Amy McGivern led the Skyhawk charge with a team-best four shots apiece.

Alice Adams found the back of the net a sliver over three minutes into the match for her second goal of the season. The Ormskirk, England native received a pass from Nicole Collins before burying it on home to give the Skyhawks the early edge. Collins was credited with an assist on the play.

Amy McGivern's pair of net finders both came on headers, first splitting the pipes in the 56th minute and then again in the 71st minute. Alexius Thomas earned an assist on the first McGivern score with a pass from the far left side that saw McGivern knock it off her lid and into the right corner of the net.

Danae Kaldraridou secured an assist on the final UT Martin goal thanks to a quick pass that connected with McGivern at point blank range.

Kari Naerdemann was kept busy with seven saves, a new season-high for the Herne, Germany product. Erica Myers did not record a save in 90 minutes of action.

The Golden Eagles will return home for a Sunday evening match against Belmont at Tech Soccer Field. First kick is slated for 6 p.m. CT. Admission is free of charge.
